Semi-Welded Modular Heat Exchangers - Mrt Process

Semi-Welded Modular Heat Exchangers

The semi-welded plate heat exchangers, SIGMADUAL, are composed of plates produced using advanced laser welding techniques. The two plates are welded together, and seals made of NBR, EPDM, Viton®, and Teflon® can be installed. When the integrity of the plate package is maintained, other plates can be repaired.

Benefits

  • * Advantages of use between -29°C and 200°C.
  • * When the plate package maintains the integrity of the plate pair, the other plates can be repaired.
  • * The risk of leakage is reduced by 95%. High flexibility due to interchangeable modules.
  • * Existing gasketed heat exchangers can be redesigned as semi-welded ones.
  • * Possibility of increasing capacity.
  • * Lower costs compared to FKM/PTFE gasketed heat exchangers.

FEATURES

  • * Laser-welded modules.
  • * Plate dimensions: DN 100 (4"); DN 200 (8"); DN 350 (14").
  • * Plate materials: 304, 316L, 904, Nickel-alloys, and upon request.
  • * Gasket materials: NBR, EPDM, FKM, Chloroprene, PTFE coated (O-ring gasket).

Fields of Application:

It is suitable for liquids, hydrocarbons, and critical gases such as caustic process chemicals or ammonia where liquid loss cannot be tolerated. In the case of ammonia cooling, the reduced volume provides significant savings. Additionally:

Evaporation of the cooler
For cooling the liquid next to the joint, evaporation of the cooling liquid next to the weld
Evaporation of heat transfer liquid in geothermal power plants
Ammonia is vaporized next to the weld with the heat from geothermal water next to the joint.
An economical alternative to gasketed PHEs with FKM or PTFE seals
Only FKM/PTFE O-ring seals are required
High safety with reduced seal length by 90%
